Chane is halfway through a freezing semester while the NMMU students are preparing to go on their fun filled summer vacation. She has yet to see snow as it has only fallen on the mountains but is waiting patiently to make her first snowman.

She is coping well with the semester work and is looking forward to the upcoming visit to the Audi factory. It is still strange that there are no tests or assignments during the semester but she will work hard to make sure that she is fully prepared for her exam. .

Chane has travelled since we last spoke. She was recently in Salzburg, Austria where ‘The Sound of Music’ was made and where Mozart was born and lived. She was amazed that the people spoke mostly English, which doesn’t normally happen in Germany, and she also commented on how friendly everyone was and how beautiful the town is.

Unfortunately, being home sick is one thing Chane can’t seem to shake off. She is missing her family and friends in SA and the looming festive season adds to it. With that being said though, she has made some very good friends and the town is abuzz with the preparation for the Christmas markets. She took Elisabeth’s advice from the start and made a point of not sitting in her room and doing nothing. She made friends and tries to do as much as possible with them.

Chane plans to get a Eurail pass and travel through Europe in December for the two week holiday. She won’t be travelling alone, she will have a special visitor from SA to travel with her.  Elisabeth will also be going to Germany in December, so there will be another friendly face all the way from home over the Christmas period.

Chane wishes all of you good luck with the final exams and hopes you all enjoy the holiday.
